Job Summary

The Test Engineering and Services Center of Excellence is seeking to fill a Senior Electrical Engineering position with a talented and highly motivated individual who possesses a BSEE or BSECE degree. This position is for a self-directed individual requiring little to no supervision in accomplishment of assignments. The primary responsibility for this position is to develop and sustain manufacturing test equipment for the Digital Engineering Test Department. The candidate who fills this position must have strong circuit analysis and troubleshooting skills, along with schematic capture and circuit card assembly (CCA) layout experience. This position will cover the requirements definition, validation, design, and verification phases of assigned projects. Knowledge of applicable design tools, semiconductors, and measurement techniques is necessary. This position will require design, development, and support of power supply testing, Environmental Stress Screening (ESS), lightning tests, and vibration test equipment. The selected candidate for this position must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate with management, internal customers, and suppliers.

Knowledge of Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) equipment is necessary for this position. The test stations developed in this department may include but are not limited to following COTs equipment: network analyzers, oscilloscopes, digital multi-meters, signal generators, current probes, logic analyzers, fiber optic measuring devices, electronic switch matrices, power supplies and variable electronic loads.

Job Responsibilities

In addition to the above mentioned responsibilities, other responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Systems principles and electrical design experience
  • Review product designs and create test solutions that maximize test coverage in the manufacturing and service environments
  • Ability to reverse engineer existing equipment (i.e. documenting something that is already built)
  • Coordinating test equipment design reviews and ensuring the generation of appropriate design documentation
  • Mentoring and training other engineers
  • Prepare and present project / technical information to peers, internal management and customers
  • Design and implement activities required to deploy the project test solutions to world-wide destinations
  • Excellent time management skills - ability to multitask and delegate work to support technicians, and engineering support staff.
  • Risk identification and management
  • Possess effective oral/written communication skills
  • Coordinate several projects and complex engineering activities while balancing priorities and schedules
  • This position will be located in Cedar Rapids, but the candidate may be required to travel on occasion

Basic Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelors Degree (BSEE or BSECE) or in a related electrical field, or in absence of a degree, have six or more years of work experience in a related field.
  • Must be capable of reading and understanding a schematic.
  • Must be capaple of securing and obtaining a Department of Defence (DoD) Security Clearance
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must be willing to travel 10%

Preferred:

  • Bid and Proposal of engineering efforts
  • Some previous experience in managing hardware build and assembly (parts ordering, build coordination, etc.)
  • Factory support experience
  • Experience with software (Visual Basic, C#.net, or C++)
  • Knowledge of ICE/EN 61010
